An adaptive reuse of a former tobacco warehouse on Rijeka's port edge. The original cast-iron columns and timber roof structure were retained and stripped back; new mezzanines float free of the perimeter walls so the existing volume can still be read in a single glance.
A continuous oak shelving plinth, 1.4 metres tall, wraps the reading room and doubles as informal seating. Above it, the library proper is open to the original roof.
